The calamitous 2020 has put us to the test in ways we would never have imagined possible and has changed – surely forever – the place from which we see the world and ourselves, the way we accept life and determine priorities and even the way we reorganize our houses, implying new guidelines in the style and ways of life, which had obvious and immediate reflexes also in the interior decoration. It changed so much, practically everything, and in such a short time, and in such an overwhelming way, that for History there will be a before and after this date.

The new house is brand new
The pandemic resulting from COVID-19 interfered in all aspects of our life and coexistence and stormed into our homes, including in space reorganization, planning and decoration. Forced to stay at home, to study and work from there (or here), we rush to design and adapt each area of the house, dressing it, above all, in multidisciplinarity, ornamenting it with multifunctionality and demanding it mandatory comfort. The house ceased to be the point of departure and arrival during the days spent out, becoming a place of permanence. A multidisciplinary place, occupied by everyone at all times.

The place of things
Thus, a comfortable and well-lit work area and a study area at any time of day have become a necessity, even in homes that do not have space, or an exclusive corner for an office or library. The kitchen became much more used, depending almost exclusively on the preparation of the various meals of the day and with that specific needs for lighting and more lights or more functional support benches were identified. The pantry itself has been rethought in terms of its storage capacity and the way it is organized, with a view to greater functionality.

Affectively and effectively more creative
We have not only become more demanding – even to respond to new logistical needs inside and outside the home – but also more adaptable and creative. One of the first steps was to compensate for the lack of the outside world, the nostalgia for Nature and freedom. This was instrumental in one of the most notorious trends of 2021, the introduction of plants and 'green' indoors. Hand in hand with this great trend, colors have returned to the walls, ecological paints with refreshing or comforting tones and even canvases and wallpapers with which we cover the interior with comfort and patterns. Botanical and vegetable motifs are among the most trendiest, because with them we travel through Nature, now even more valued.

There was light, and it was lit inside
earth tones, 100% natural and environmentally friendly fibers, recycled materials, artisanal and ecological production methods, non-industrialized procedures and honest commitments to a more sustainable world, reuse and investment in non-polluting products result from this new human commitment. However, one of the great revolutions took place in lighting projects, which are expected to be more responsive to new needs, whether to better illuminate a kitchen counter, a study desk, a work corner or to permanently bring greater clarity to an entire room. Not only that, but lamps came to be seen as first-rate decorative pieces, and not just auxiliaries to a pressing need for lighting. The right light to perform different tasks requires differentiations in terms of power and location, but what is now required of all of them is that they are significantly beautiful, distinct, original and environment-creating – the right environment – even when they are not. to be used. This is, at this moment, as pertinent as their ability to fulfill a function, to fill a need.

Lights with a story
Thus, the original lamps emerge as one of the strongest and most current trends – this being a trend that speaks loudly in the light workshop of the original and exclusive Light It Be wooden lamps. They are companions of all hours, even during the day, since some tasks, due to their demands, necessary visual or manual acuity, or even the arrangement of natural light in a certain parts of the house, require them to be lit uninterruptedly, as in so many workplaces. We now understand that such a vital piece, due to the 'profession' it performs – illuminating our work, what we do –, must also represent something more than artificial light, it must, with the same dedication, define a decoration, create the right atmosphere and light up our lives and set the right mood of its own. for each task. Furthermore, lamps must enrich the decoration, be elements we look at with pleasure and not just as mere light carriers, and they must make us feel good. Even better if they still manage to make us laugh, feel emotions or bring poetry to our eyes. In this sense, we are talking about lights that naturally inspire and illuminate us in every sense of the term. Lamps that tell us stories capable of moving faster and more passionately our hand, our will. Lamps made of such rich and noble materials that they enhance our senses and galvanize our own skills.

We want passion!
The desire for originality is born, for unique and unrepeatable pieces that relate to us exclusively, in a dialogue of proximity and artistic understanding. We all know that we are most productive when we are happiest and that this absurd feeling that is happiness feeds on small big things, many of them unspeakable or even identifiable. The feeling of security, the textures, the smells, the design, the beauty and the materials that surround us have a lot to do with all this, even more with everything that goes in our soul, being that soul food that lifts us up. Purity, naturalness, honesty, commitment, manufacture are concepts stamped on pieces carved with passion and this is surely inspiring and exhilarating.

You don't know? Invent!
Choosing natural raw materials, manufactured production processes, artisanal knowledge, methodologies that reject repetitive and polluting industrial procedures, mass production, indistinct pieces, and consciously opting for sustainable brands and exclusive pieces is a statement and a giant step, albeit an individual one, to promote change and protect the planet. This type of pieces, which undoubtedly include the natural wood lamps - that with their upcycling soul upcycling, recover what was lost – it is also assumed as an extension of our own environmental commitments, becoming a mechanism of action and reaction, a partner promoting changes in consumption habits. And even if everything is born selfishly, just because we want something that no one else in the world will have the same, or merely because we fall in love with a piece, the truth is that, riding this decorative element comes a whole philosophy that will require replication, mimicry and that will lead us to purer and more sustainable paths. Because craftsmanship is inspiring. And for that alone, it is worth thinking about originality, about desiring difference. Everything else comes right after.

Inspiring is giving more life to life
To be inspired, or even to awaken the artisan in you, or to appreciate manual work and still be able to value something as desired, but so vague, as creativity, we leave you a handful of creative ideas. Some of them start from everyday objects, from pieces that intersect with our daily lives and that can be tested and fully produced at home. Others require more skills and ability, but nothing that the will can't handle. In between, you will find many Light It Be creations, born from maple trunks, iron, brass, natural fibers and even steel, which arrive by hand from some car engine components, among others, that we introduce in some of our assemblies. Look at your surroundings with first-time eyes and you will see a whole new universe of possibilities. Jars of jam, porcelain dishes, kitchen accessories, pudding molds, toys, cans of this and that, discarded containers, bicycle wheels, hats and so many other adventures in the world. upcycling, side by side with no less creative lamps, born of skilled and ingenious artists and designers, they too discover and reveal the world to us as if for the first time, playing with ideas and possibilities, showing us how it is possible to play with everything. A world that is full of stories by and to tell.
All this talk has given us an appetite for our workshop!
